By the autumn of 2026, 25 years will have passed since the Swedish-Eritrean journalist and author Dawit Isaak was arrested in Eritrea. He is thus the EU citizen who has been imprisoned the longest as a prisoner of conscience. To this day, Dawit Isaak has neither been charged nor convicted. Twenty-five years of quiet diplomacy by Sweden have failed to secure his release. The film was first broadcast on SVT in 2011, at which point Isaak had been imprisoned for 10 years.
